Light Division - 1/95th Rifles

Royal Green Jackets on the move in Iberia -must have loved those grapes as the vineyard looks quite bare.
Continuing the build up of units to represent the Light Division in the Peninsular here are a few photographs of the 1/95th Rifles that served in that formation throughout the Napoleonic Wars.

These figures are from the wonderful Elite Miniatures range available in Australia through Nathan Vinson at Elite Miniatures Australia.  These have also got the wonderful honour of also being painted for me by the "Lonely Gamer" himself - great job Nathan!

Wonderful figures with great animation and character - perfect in my opinion for this theatre of war.

Quite a command stand with officer mounted, hornist and foot officer urging the boys to get their three shots a minute in to stop those damned French columns!

These chaps distinguished themselves at the Battle of Balina Allegra and have quickly become a favourite of their young commander.

What a surprise!

  2. Very good Mark - had me quietly chuckling! I should have posted 28mm 1 st battalion of the 95th Regiment. I would love to see a battalion of 1/95 scale troops though : - )

    1. Thanks Peter. The 95th just scream Peninsular for my gaming battalions and myself since watching Cookies VHS copies of Sharpe complete with commercials that his mother used to send over from Basingstoke in the early 1990's! I think the young man will continue to grow extremely fond of the Light Division the more we game.

  5. Hmmm. Perhaps another unit of rifles is in order. KGL rifles wore a similar uniform didn't they?

  7. Just a suggestion, but I have an unbreakable rule that every unit has a standard, irrespective on whether the truth is murky or not. They just look great!!

    1. Hi Gerry. I couldn't agree more and want to put a small guidion on this battalion in the first of the first episode of Sharpe when Kilwilly ( you know the chap who writes Downton Abbey and was commanding the 95th ...Julian Fellowes I think his name is) is attacked by the French. Watch this space mate.
