Two squadrons of KGL ready for some action |
A quick post today showing two squadrons of KGL Hussars for the ongoing actions in the Peninsular.
It it did surprise me that the range of figures available for these chaps was very limited indeed. In fact I think in 28mm the Connoisseur range from James at Bicorne Miniatures may well be the only ones with the correct peaked hussar busby/headgear.
The peaked busby, so unique to the KGL Hussars, is well depicted in this shot |
Looking good Carlo.
ReplyDeleteThanks Pat. Perhaps need to go back and pay a little bit more attention to. Couple of details on the horses however a serviceable effort ;-)
DeleteVery very nice!
ReplyDeleteThank you Rodger.
DeleteThey look great!
ReplyDeleteThank you Mark - these lads will get some action shortly as we return to the Iberian Peninsular for some GdB action.
DeleteHi Carlo. Another fine unit that will look splendid on the table top.
ReplyDelete"I am told that for the metal used in the initial period of release was very conducive to soldering, cutting, bending and chopping." There's got to be something in there about the French not finding them particularly conducive to cutting, bending and chopping but it escapes me at the moment! 8O)
Salute
von Peter himself
Thankyou Peter - whenever I am commanding those Frenchmen they seem to cut and bend a hell of a lot mate.
DeleteVery nice!
ReplyDeleteHmm they wore a *peaked* (i.e., visored) Busby? Very unusual, and as I plan on [painting a few KGL Hussars later this year, a detail I had missed to date!
Its interesting isn't it Peter that after all those years when you think you might have just gotten to know most things a uniform aberration pops up. I remember seeing the KGL Hussar in one of the Blandford Uniform guides (Armies of Waterloo??) and it shows the distinct peaked/visored busby. Very smart indeed.
DeleteDo I spot a few old Hinchliffe horses in there as well?
ReplyDeletePerhaps one or two Brian of the slightly larger style that they sometimes had in their range. I have just, inspired by your last post and that of A Life In Lead, dug out an old regiment of Spanish La Mancha Lancers that may well need a hell of a lot of work but still look nice. I wonder if they are old Hinchcliffe or Connoisseur figures?
DeletePlease post some pics - I have been looking at an order to either Bicorne or Hinds for some if they fit OK with the rest of my stuff.
DeleteWill do Brian. They need a heck of a lot of refreshing however it might be a good "Before and After" post!
