The Battle rages on across the heights.

French Guard cavalry take a run at the Russian Imperial Guard

So the battle rages on across the entire front as the allies, buoyed by the Grand Duke Constantines Imperial Guard reserves arriving on the field, attempt to hold on for dear life.  On the French left flank Van Damme has been hit by growing casualties and the force of his attack on Stare Vinohrady has stalled. The Russian defenders are Alonso holding on for deaf life.

For whatever reason blogger continues to arrange my photos in a random order which makes the glow of the battle difficult to narrate. I’ll get better.

Surely not a French rout!

That could be a divisive clash of opposing Guard cavalry formations!

Still a lot of fighting to go and it will be very interesting to see if the Russians and Austrians can hold on.

    1. Thank you so much Greg. It’s been a very enjoyable game and most importantly a sensational and practical way for Ben to learn the rules.

    1. Spot on Peter. Unless it’s 1814 it’s pretty tough getting those Guard cavalry out regularly that’s for sure. I’ve been so looking forward to having the Early Russian Guard out on the field.

  9. Carlo, this is getting even better by the instalment! I see that the Big Heels have been launched already. Interesting and exciting move. It certainly becomes a do or die tussle once the Russian guard counter-attack, doesn't it? A bit like the historical encounter...!
    Lovely stuff. Regards, James
p.s. While I defended the new blogger in my comment on your previous post, the photo loading system is a bugger. Unlike the old system, it does not seem that you can upload all your photos and then select which ones to insert where in the narrative. I tried this and then had to upload the remaining photos again, 'cause they had disappeared when I clicked on the insert image tool. Having learned that I now place the insertion point where I want it and just upload the photo or photos that I want to put there. If you are still having problems with the captions give me a call and I'll run you through a tutorial. Or just give me a call to say g'day!! :)

  10. As noted by others another fine post Carlo.

Are you aware that some of the photos appear to be out of order? Ah-ha-ha!! Just another small step on the electronic machineries steps to overlordship I'm afraid!! 8O)

BTW, I may be a little thick and missed it but what happened with the "French Guard cavalry take a run at the Russian Imperial Guard".

    1. Hi Peter and thanks. Yes the photos have a mind of their own when being put up on the blog...aaaarggghh!
The Russian Guard infantry rolled incredibly well and the Grenadiers a Cheval withdrew in good order to prepare another run at them.
