Some Napoleonics projects on the table

Just a few quick photos of some command stands and vignette extras that I’m putting together.  I’m a very big believer in the little extras on the table that add a bit of “fluff” to the games we play. What’s the use of a barn without any cows being milked? The local piazza without a water trough and locals living life as normally as they can in the maelstrom which was warfare in the early nineteenth century.

I certainly have enjoyed putting these together. The wonderful Foundry Marshalls are preparing for done 1814 commands.

  2. Lovely mate - and you know how we all love a good vignette. Grant and I play Black Powder and we've been developing a series of special attributes and points values for such vignettes. Your Cantiniere for example: CANTINIERE/VIVANDIER – 20 points
When attached to any unit, one morale dice roll per turn may be re-rolled from shooting casualties. Cantiniers are mobile and may move between units throughout the game. If attached to a unit which engages in melee, the Cantinier will detach 6” to the rear before the melee phase. Must be depicted by appropriate female figure with either a cart or laden mule/donkey/horse.

  3. And given you're intro paragraph I am extra glad to see t he cow being milked.

Great work Carlo. In my mind the visual aspect is vital for the experience - so these hit the mark perfectly.

    1. I think I painted those figures well over twenty years ago Aly, the cart maybe seven or eight. Great to put them on the table soon.

  6. Some great additions to the collection Carlo.

Vignettes are a great addition for adding interest to a table; have potential for scenario uses; and provide something different on the painting table. What could go wrong?

    Keep 'em coming.

    1. Absolutely correct Peter and great to hear from you. I do have a few more to work through as well as some old Hinchcliffe figures to undercoat and get on the board as well.
