Elite Miniatures Grenzer - half the figures were purchased pre-painted and the balance matched in. |
Though the Russians and the French have been receiving a lot of the focus for this project, the Austrians that fought in the Austerlitz campaign and beyond are still very much in the works.
As always, Elite Miniatures will be the focus of the collection for this period with the occasional Front Rank figure taking up a position as well as required. |
Beautiful figurines! There is a remark: in 1805 Grenz infantry was not headgear is the shako. They wore a hat "klobuk".
ReplyDeleteThanks A - yes I gave seen done varied image sources of the Austrians with both Shako and “klobuk” depicted in this theatre of war. The earlier Grenzer figures from Elite would be perfect however would limit me a but too much.
DeleteLovely looking grenzers, I like their brown uniform in a sea of white!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks Iain. It was interesting because I assumed all Grenzer had brown coats until I came across the plates for the units on the Vanguard futzing the Austerlitz campaign.
DeleteThey look fantastic, Carlo. I too prefer the brown uniforms for variety, but we'll not get into which unit wore which coats when - that way lies madness! :-)
ReplyDeleteSeriously, Austrians are almost as vital to a Napoleonic Wars collection as French!
Thanks Peter and yes, it can be a minefield. I 100% agree on the Austrians during this period as no one fought the French more during our favourite period!
DeleteExcellent. I'm still trying to find out from a certain Stephen what we lack in 15mm Austrians and Russians for Austerlitz.
ReplyDeleteFrom memory Mark I think Steve will have everything you need for Austerlitz already including helmet wearing line infantry etcetra.
DeleteA great looking unit Carlo.
ReplyDeleteThough one has to be a bit worried about the battalion's future as the French appear to be up to their normal cunning/dirty tricks with a sneak attack from the rear!! 8O)
Salute
von Peter himself
Very funny Peter and I am smiling as I type this reply. Yes the colour parties seem to very keen for a rear attack indeed!
DeleteVery nice work there Carlo. I always liked the Grenz in the White Uniforms
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Nathan. I may need to order a few more Elite Miniatures Austrians off you soon.
