Wonderful fun playing a small battle Napoleonics using our favourite General D’Armee rules. Cookie wanted yo blood his newly painted Calpe Saxons and it was an opportunity for me to get the Russians out for the first time in ages.
You can see the setup with the Saxons endeavouring to get their batteries to high ground whilst the forces both refuse the right flanks. |
Using my standard TTS mat, hence the grids. |
Nice shot of the large Russian 9pdr battery |
Skirmish lines meet |
Phil always loves the Saxon contingent of Napoleons German allies having painted them many years ago in Minifigs there in pride of place in PW’s collection still |
These Russian Jagers performed superbly during the battle |
Saxon Garde looking resplendent in their red jackets |
These poor Saxons really took a hiding from the Russian guns |
We are aiming to play at least one of these a month in 28mm and perhaps another in 15mm just for fun.
Another great looking table Carlo - does Phil have any Calpe French? I've been tempted to get a unit to paint up
ReplyDeleteHi Kerry and thanks for the visit. No he only has Perry French, superb ones at that, and I’m not sure if he plans to grab any Calpe Frogs. I’ve got a stack of Calpe Prussians to work my way through. I think you would do a superb job on Calpe French figures mate.
DeleteWhat a table! Napoleonics en masse! Perfect. Great looking game Carlo.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much John. Trotting them out again next week I think.
DeleteVery dramatic looking, with all the standards and the density of the well painted troops.
ReplyDeleteNothing like a game of Napoleonics for a bit of on table pageantry P.
DeleteLovely stuff and the newly-painted Saxons looked great. I have always particularly liked the Saxon guard uniform.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lawrence. The Saxons were an army I painted in 15mm for Empire many years ago as well. Cookie has done a great job on his.
DeleteSplendid looking game Carlo…
ReplyDeleteWith two lovely armies…
All the best. Aly
It was very much a fun game Aly. Nice to get the big Nappy lads out on a club night.
DeleteVery nice picture ls!
ReplyDeleteI think subconsciously I would line all my troops up on the grid. 😀
It was very tempting Stew. As an aside if you were playing a game where you had to guess ranges, charge distances etc. then a 150mm gridded square would be superbly convenient…at least in your turn😂
DeleteGreat looking game, good to see some Saxon foot as opposed to the ubiquitous Saxon heavies!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes,
Jeremy
So true Jeremy. They tend to hold their own as well which is very tough luck for the Ruskies!
DeleteLovely looking game Carlo. That 12 pdr Russian battery a real standout; a game winner too, hey?!
ReplyDeleteRegards, James
Thanks Fish for the compliments. The battery was actually a 9pdr however it did do sterling service.
DeleteGreat looking game, Carlo. I'm getting back into General d'Armee myself. Is this a scenario you put together yourselves?
ReplyDeleteGerry
Great to hear from you Gerry. This was a simple battle at the club to get some Napoleonics back at the Napoleonic Wargaming Society on a Wednesday night. We do enjoy General D’Armee a hell of a lot mate.
