The tide starts to turn...

My dislike of the new blogger design template has reached Old Testament levels of fire and brimstone!
The difficulty in everything which was so simple before has actually had me wondering whether blogger is the way to go forward or perhaps using the ease of Facebook may be better.

I can’t quite work out how to write captions on the individual photos and they are appearing out of sequence unfortunately.

The French Imperial Guard Cavalry are released in this particular game the turn after Grand Duke Constantine first advances elements of the Russian Imperial Guard onto the battlefield. In this case seven battalions of the Russian Guard Infantry have been deployed.

These chaps continue to hold up the French of Van Damme however their losses are mounting.

The Austrian formations in this battle so far have been close to useless.  They have been consistently hesitant and unable or unwilling to support the Russian brigades on both flanks and they were unable to hold the village of Pratzen.  Can they finally get themselves, at least the two brigades which remain on the table, to actually pressure the French advancing from Were’s brigade?

The Russians Guard infantry arrive.

The game has taken a slight turn in favour of the allies. The French attack on Stare Vinohrady has very nearly succeeded with legere getting yo the edge of the winery however being forced to retire with a retreat faltering result for the brigade just as they were about to take it through the side gate!

The Russians on the left flank continue to stubbornly hold off St. Hillaire however French columns have reached the top of the Pratzenberg.  Can they stay there?

  1. Carlo, your battle is a visual treat; always a Napoleonic spectacle. For captioning, click on the photo. A task bar will appear. Select the underscore “A” and that will insert an “Add caption” caption.

  2. You've certainly captured the Napoleonic "mass" effect Carlo, very impressive. Cheers Greg

  3. Another outstanding series of inspiring shots. Hang in there mate with the Blogging. Don't be the 'old dog'. Thee seems to be a few blokes who struggle with an Apple interface. It's working fine for me now but when it first rolled out a month or two back it had bugs.

  4. Despite the frustrations of new blogger this continues to be an excellent battle report in a wonderful setting ( your gaming area is top class)
One of my favourite battles and I'm still rooting for the allies.

  5. Excellent write up and lovely figures.
Blogger does have an option to revert to "legacy format" at the bottom of the option list. I revert all the time.

  8. They have all said it, but it warrants saying; this is bloody marvellous Carlo!
Like all changes, it takes a bit of time to get used to, but I am now finding the new blogger interface much better. Don't go to the dark side of Facebook, please. It only encourages Zuckerberg in his arrogance and millions! :)

  11. fantastic eye candy, Carlo! In the past week, the new blogger changed something (or I changed something), so that when I upload the pictures, it comes with a hyperlink that makes it almost impossible to type a narrative without endless reformatting. I will have to try Jon's suggestion!

    1. Thanks Kerry. I’ve been building these Early Russians for a while so quite a bit hasn’t made the table for this game. I plan to do another refight of this scenario with a few lads from the club visiting and then hit 1807 Friedland. Really excited.

  13. Great looking table and figures - I am heartened to see I am not the only one struggling with the new Blogger, although strangely, I have not had too much trouble inserting descriptions under images. My first issue is regardless of what order I load stuff, an image is ALWAYS the first thing at the top of the post - the other headache is that the program or App or whatever it is, seems to be on constant "SAVE" mode, so that I can only type a few letters before it stops to save what I have typed - its so frustrating that for the last couple of posts, I have typed in Word then copied and pasted into Blogger - which seems to work fine, contrary to all expectations....

  14. A lovely sense of mass, enjoyed te pics very much. As for Blogger, when you insert a picture, tab to give yourself 3 spaces and then insert the picture into the second space, i.e. have a space above and below the photo, this stops the photo being sent to the bottom of the page.

    1. Thanks Norm. Appreciate the tips. Are you having issues with uploading ten pictures at a time and then having them then load in a different chronological order?
