Prussian and Saxon 1806 Hussars on the workbench

Elite Miniatures Prussian Hussars Regiment N.11 Von Billa ready for some final touches

The1806 Prussians and Saxons continue to be a focus for me in my limited hobby time upstairs at the moment. As mentioned in the last post I acquired a beautifully painted Prussian force from JM in the US and it perfectly compliments my existing and planned

Elite Miniatures Saxon Hussars to the fore and FG Miniz Hussars depicting
Regiment No.5 Von Pritwitz to the rear. Beautiful figures so well painted by JM

Two more Hussar Regiments here - at the front Regiment No.1 Gettkandt and to
the rear Regiment No.8 Von Boucher

These will be added to the Prussian Towarczy Lancers to give the Prussian and Saxon army a total of six light cavalry regiments.  That will most certainly complete the light cavalry contingent and I will then focus on the heavier cavalry such as Dragoons and Cuirassiers.  I will aim to have all of these based by the end of August and then I can work on the next Prussian infantry division which is also awaiting to be based.

I do have two Elite Miniatures Saxon Musketeers battalions on the painting bench now well past their two year anniversary of partial completion. In the last few weeks there has been almost a warp speed advancement of their completion- which really means that one battalion is maybe 65% complete.

Yayyyy!

    1. Thanks Stew for your kind comment. Yes the swords waving in a suitably psychotic style is very much the Hussars fall back pose of choice methinks. That and the sneaking into the barn to steal the chickens while foraging of course.

    1. Thanks for that Aly. They certainly have a look about them with twirling moustaches, waving sabres and the early style mirlitons. Brilliant.

  4. Looking good Carlo, hussars are always wonderful to see if a pain to paint. I have a large model of a Saxon Guarde du Corps that I put a heap of time and effort into. The Saxon uniforms were a large and colourful addition to the Confederation of the Rhine and not featured enough to my mind.

    1. I certainly agree B. I have the Saxon Heavy Cavalry in Connoisseur Miniatures for 1809 onwards which I think are superb. Should put them up as a post one day as the Zastrow Cuirassiers are a Doug Mason special.

  5. Hi Carlo, I had a look and the Connoisseur/Bicorne figures look well cast, shame about the 20 pounds shipping though. It is a huge bugbear for this part of the world, the cost of getting models delivered on top of the purchase price. There are an extremely limited number of local agents for metal figures in Australia.

    1. Unfortunately the shipping is a bit of a bugger from the UK and Europe however its still much better than from the USA which unfortunately has now become almost prohibitive. If you go the Elite Miniatures route of course you have Nathan in Townsville. He’s a good mate whom I’m sure you’re familiar with.
