To the Strongest with the boys

Reasonably open terrain - even hot the old WRG Armies and Enemies out for them to have a quick
Background read on the troops and tactics. Loved that book!
Well tomorrow is a chance to run both lads through a game of “To the Strongest” upstairs. I’ve made up two 130 point lists of Decline Late Romans and Sassanid Persians so they can both see how reasonable foot and very good mounted on the battlefield.

Battle mat is 8” x 4” - lots of room to flank.

Looking from the Sassanid lines

I’m very much looking forward to this as the umpire.  Great rules system that should allow the young men to get to grips  with the main mechanics quite quickly. The subtle aspects will come later.

  2. How old are your boys, Carlo?

I taught TTS! to a group of middle schoolers (ie, ages 11 - 14 or so) pretty easily.

    1. Ahhh Peter. I still like to call the "boys" however they are strapping young men of 20 and 18 now. They are still wonderful lads and I think it will be a quick exercise in instructing them on play. I cannot wait for the banter to start.

  3. Looks super, Carlo! I still need to come back to you on LotR, I've been busy and taking advantage of a weekend of unseasonably good gardening weather. :-)
